Yasu for Mac

Compatibility with macOS Sierra

As we get closer to the release of macOS Sierra on September 20th, I’m sure many are wondering if Yasu for Mac is compatible yet. The answer is…sort of.

Some features of Apple’s latest operating system are no longer available to use, such as Reset System Permissions, so if you try to run that option on Sierra with Yasu 3.0.1, you’re going to get an error. There could be a few other issues, but I’ve not had the time to look closely at every single line of code yet.

On a positive note, I have received reports from a couple of users who enjoy living dangerously, and they reported no issues apart from the Reset System Permissions I just mentioned.

So, that said, I plan to release an interim beta version specifically for Sierra that disables the Reset System Permissions option. It’s going to be a bit of a hack, but it will keep users from getting in trouble. It might not be very pretty, but it is only temporary.

The immediate goal of the project is a full re-write of the app from line one. Many things will be different about Yasu, but it will be more aligned with macOS releases going forward, and even easier to use.

Keep an eye on the blog for progress and sneak peaks of the new look.
